Caring, Connected Dollar

Our Caring, Connected Dollar activity is all about ensuring everyone in our community feels supported and included. We run a range of services including our COVID support helpline, and hope to reinstate our others as soon as we can.

Our Community Connectors – Shirley Bwye and Fiona Hogg – are helping us to develop our local directory of services – so watch this space!

In the meantime – below is some information on what is currently available in Dollar.

Local Services

COVID 19 Support

Dollar Community Development Trust and our partner organisations are here to provide ongoing support to local residents throughout the Covid-19 Pandemic. If you or someone you know is in need of support with shopping or prescription pick-up, please call 07496 089 221.

Lunch Club at Home

If you know someone who would benefit from a hot meal delivered twice a week then please let them know about the Lunch Club at Home initiative being run by the Playpen Cafe CIC.

Coming Soon

Digital Buddies project: we were lucky enough to get some funding from the local Ideas, Improvement and Innovation fund to pay for some iPads and Alexa’s along with some remote MiFi devices to lend out to help those who don’t have one already and are unsure about whether or not they would like one . You can borrow the devices to see if you like having one, one of our Digital Buddies will help you set it up and get used to using it, and if you would like one of your own we can help you to buy one. If you don’t like it, you can just give it back – no questions asked!

For more information call Rebecca on 07563 405939.

Volunteer Driver Service

The VDS is a small group of local volunteers in Dollar who aim to make life a little bit easier for those without access to transport. The volunteers offer lifts to help with every day trips to the shops, the health centre, the library, or further afield if necessary. Click here for more info.

Community Library

A group of local volunteers, with support from the Trust, took over the running of the local library from the Council in 2018. It is now a thriving space with regular events.
