Meet the Trust

The Development Trust comprises a Board of 7 Directors/Trustees, a Membership Secretary, and a Manager.  Our Manager is contracted to work 18 hours per week (paid), the others are all volunteers.

The Trustees, Manager, and our Membership Secretary are all Dollar residents who have come together to try and make a positive impact on the community.  New trustees can be elected at the AGM. If you are interested in being a Board member, please contact us.

The Board’s Office Bearers

Chair: Stephen Roe

Stephen recently retired as CEO of a technology company in Edinburgh.  He has 45 years’ experience in leading and turning round businesses and continues to support start-up businesses.  His personal interests in the community are in making sure the Trust serves the needs of the residents as the town develops and grows and, in particular, in supporting our Caring, Connected work. He has lived in Dollar for over 30 years.

Vice Chair: Nick Poett

Nick served six years with the British Army in the Scots DG and now has a young family and works full time on the family farm at Harviestoun.  He is interested in the wider future development of Dollar and is keen to put into action the recent community action plans.

Company Secretary: Norman Dunning

Norman has worked in charities for over 40 years; formerly CEO of ENABLE Scotland he also has wide experience of voluntary work as Chair, Trustee and Secretary in a number of charities and has worked in governance and advisory roles in national and local government and universities.

Treasurer: Bill Osborne 

Bill is a Chartered Accountant with over forty-five years’ experience gained with Deloitte, one of the world’s greatest accountancy firms, in London and São Paulo, Brazil, then in Scotland with his own local business. He was born in Dollar and attended Dollar Academy. His wife, Esmenia, is Brazilian and has dual nationality. Their two sons were born in Brazil and educated at kindergarten and primary school in São Paulo, then at Strathdevon Primary School and at Dollar Academy. Bill continues to ply his trade from his home in Dollar.

The Board’s Trustees

Chris Hudd 

Chris worked in sales and marketing for companies such as Kraft Foods, Guinness and Diageo before running his own consulting/training businesses.  He is now ‘semi-retired’ and lives in Dollar with Helen his wife, two children and dog Alfie.  Chris is keen to see Dollar preserved as a vibrant, thriving community for future generations to enjoy. Chris’ role is event coordination and external fund raising.

David Duffs

David has lived in Dollar for 13 years. He is retired from the chemical industry, where he had experience of both operational and business aspects. His specialisation latterly was in improving the Health and Safety (HSE) performance of the industry. His key Trust interests are in the Health and Safety of all activities, and ongoing projects to make environmental improvements across Dollar. David’s role in the Trust is operations management and the environment.

Kenny Mitchell

Kenny served the communities of Dollar and surrounding rural areas as a postman for 31 years. As a qualified football coach, he also worked part-time for Clacks Council Sports Development. He established Dollar Glen Football Club where he is currently Chairman and was also Youth Leader at Dollar Senior Youth Club. His passion is community football and he is determined to see the new football facilities finally delivered but is also keen to see other facilities upgraded and established so that all ages can take part in sport & increase active living. Kenny’s role with the Trust is active communities

Membership Secretary: Eric Denton

Eric was a domestic and international banker for 30 years.  He also worked as manager, business development services for Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce and later a Financial Director of a ship’s chandler in Leith. He has always had an interest in the work of communities and served as Chair of Edinburgh Citizens Advice Bureau for five years and latterly on the Board of Wyre Forest Citizens Advice Bureau.

Dave Morgan

Dave is currently the Sustainable Procurement Manager for the Scottish Environment Protection Agency and is experienced working with organisations in the public and private sectors. Dave is a Chartered Procurement Professional and Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. He is new to Dollar having moved into the village in early 2021. When not working he spends his time rock climbing, hill running and fly fishing.

Stephanie Connor

Stephanie is Head of Legal for an SME in Stirling City Centre.  She has 10 years’ experience as a solicitor initially in civil litigation and in later years, contractual negotiations and consumer credit claims.   Stephanie is also a Director of Citizens Advice Bureau having held that position for 5 years. Her personal interests in the community are ensuring Dollar is a Town to Visit with a thriving community and tourism.  Stephanie has ties to Dollar for over 15 years and has resided there for over 2 years.

Stephen Leitch

Stephen has lived in Dollar for 30 years and is now retired from work where for over 20 years he worked in local government in IT and Project Management.  His final 10 years of work was within the funding world where he worked alongside many third sector organisations.  As a volunteer he was a children’s rugby coach at Hillfoots Rugby Football Club and as a swimming teacher with Dollarphins here in Dollar.  He is a member of Dollar Community Council and a founding director of DCDT and was heavily involved in developing the current Community Action Plan.  He has been very active within the community by leading the Dollar Community Events team in the delivery of Dollar Duck Race, Dollar Gala, Dollar Fireworks and Dollar Winter Festival since 2014.  He is married to Lynn and has three daughters and is also a grandfather.

DCDT MANAGER

Rebecca McFarlane

Rebecca stepped down from our Board in 2019 to take on the role of Development Officer, she has since been promoted to Manager, recognising the positive direction she has taken the Trust in the last two years, and her drive and commitment to the role. She has been involved in the voluntary sector in various guises for the last 17 years and brings a wealth of experience in volunteer management, project management, service development, delivery, and evaluation. Rebecca moved to Dollar in 2009 and lives here with her husband and young daughter.
