Membership of the Trust is now FREE to every resident of Dollar!
It is vital for the Trust to represent all members of the community and develop the services which they aspire to and the £1 fee has become a barrier to membership, not least in the processes involved in renewing it annually. At an EGM on 29th March, members of Dollar Community Development Trust, therefore, agreed to scrap the fee. From now on, if you are over 16 years and live within the Dollar area you can simply sign up to be a member, receive regular communication from the Trust and share in the decisions we make for our much-loved town.
The Trust does, of course, need volunteers and money to continue and further develop all that we do. We receive some grants for specific pieces of our work, make a modest charge for use of the Hive, and make a surplus on some events that we run. But to meet the running costs of the Trust, we rely on fundraising.
With this in mind, we have launched our new “Friends of the Trust” scheme. Those who wish to support us but don’t have the time to volunteer can now become “friends” and make a small monthly donation. If sufficient supporters regularly donate just £2 or £3 a month – the cost of a coffee – this will provide us with a more secure and regular source of funds to ensure we can meet our overheads and continue to deliver the services that make Dollar a great place to live.
